Accredited in Public Relations (ARP) by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), this honourable mention, which confers recognition on the competence and commitment of public relations professionals to excellence and ethics, has been of particular interest for over fifty years. Their efforts to obtain this status are not only a personal concern, but also and above all a lever for the development of an internationally recognized profession.
As Lawrence Esso, Certified Public Relations Consultant and author of Kelart Communications, explains, obtaining public relations certification is demanding. Demanding because each candidate for certification must demonstrate a sense of strategy, a knowledge of communications best practices, and a rigorous application of the CPRS Code of Ethics. These are exactly the qualities that make it easier for customers to do business with us, and provide the same recognition and mutual trust that partners place in professionals who have chosen the path of certification.
On Thursday, October 26, 2022, a free webinar co-hosted by Lawrence Esso and leading experts Eloi Courchesne, Paule Genest and Silvie Letendre provided practical advice on the process of obtaining this recognition, while inspiring those in and out of the PR profession to take their careers to the next level.
At the start of the webinar, Lawrence made a special mention of his fellow members of the 2020-2021 cohort, who all managed to earn their APR designation, despite the challenges presented by the context of a global pandemic, illustrating just how well the passion of tight deadlines can testify to the excellence and institutionalized resilience of this accreditation.
For all those who would like to embark on this type of experience, APR accreditation is first and foremost a recognition of the ability to act in a complex, results-generating environment.
